Vegan Shoes: They Just Make Sense
When most people think of vegan shoes they think of hemp based materials and hippy styles, but that could not be further from the truth (True fact, most Birkenstock, the hippy shoe to end all hippy shoes are mostly not vegan).
In fact the variety of fashionable vegan shoes has shot up over the past few years. Aside from being cruelty free, vegan shoes tend to also be a lot less expensive, as man made materials are far less costly then leather.
I feel that tradition has been that shoes are made of leather- that is just the way it has been for so long. And it makes sense- leather is a great fabric for shoes- it is durable, and flexible- which make it super ideal for something you need to wear on your foot. However the way we treated animals in days of yore is a lot different then we treat them currently. The way we gather and tan leather is much less humane then how we used to. It is not Farmer Joe three miles away raising his cows, slaughtering them, using its meat for food and hide for needed material- its cows being bred, abused and not taken care of so that they can grow old enough to be killed and their hides used for shoes, bags and couches. So with the changing way in which we decided to start getting the leather we needed for our shoes we also created lots of pain, discomfort, and death. So times have changed and the system is not working out.
People are starting to realize the effect their leather shoes have on the lives of innocent animals and now vegan shoe options are endless and can be made to be just as fashionable as their counter parts, which makes the animals
way happy I am sure. Many sites offer indie style and cheap dresses too. You no longer have to sacrifice compassion, upscale looks, or your hard-earned dollars, because you can have it all at swaychic.com.
