Your Guide to Buying Clothing Online

submitted on 27 March 2016
Online shopping is becoming more and more popular, as people swap braving the crowded shopping malls for ordering products online from the comfort of their own home or even when out and about using a smartphone or other mobile device. But, when it comes to buying clothes, ordering online can be a bit hit and miss. Because you don’t have the luxury of being able to try the item on before you buy, many online shoppers order parcels of clothing only to be disappointed when they try it on to discover that it doesn’t fit well and they need to send it back. So, we’ve put together this handy guide to buying clothes online. Knowing Your Measurements
Knowing your clothing size often isn’t enough when it comes to purchasing clothing from online boutiques. Fashion size can vary from brand to brand, and you can easily get two different items in the same size only to find that one fits and other doesn’t. When you’re shopping offline this isn’t much of a problem as you can try alternative sizes on, but when you order clothes from the internet, you could order a size 6 only to find that it’s more of a 4. But, the majority of good online clothing sites will provide you with the exact measurements for their sizes. So, learn how to measure your body, and you’ll be able to match yourself up with the perfect size from the site you’re buying for.

Watch Videos
If you’re planning to purchase clothing from an online retailer, you should always check to see whether they offer a video of the item being modelled. Videos can give you a much better idea of how the item fits and looks when it’s on, and you’ll get a better idea of what it’s like compared to just looking at a picture. Don’t forget, though, that the garment probably won’t look exactly the same on you as it does on the model!

Read Reviews
As with buying anything online, you should read any reviews that are available. Many online clothing stores will have reviews sections for each item that they have listed, and you’ll be able to see what other customers think of any particular garment you might be considering buying. This is a great way to have a better idea of the specifics of what you’re purchasing, especially when it comes to things such as the quality of the material and the cut. Even better if the reviews include pictures – finding a customer who’s a similar size and shape to you wearing the item will give you a better idea of how it’s going to look on you.

Choosing an Online Store
When it comes to choosing online stores to buy clothing from, you can easily get drawn in by those with amazingly cheap prices. But, this can leave you disappointed, when the item turns up and it’s nothing like it looked on the picture! Choosing reputable brands is the best way to go.
